This was our first Rally with PLUS - People like Us - Retired Caravan Club. We had joined the Club a couple of months earlier and arrived knowing no-one at all. We need not have worried because by the time we left we knew everyone on the Rally.
The Reception we had was very warm, with Sid and Ann, the Rally Marshals introducing themselves as soon as we arrived. They told us everything we needed to know.
During the 5 nights we were there we all went out for a meal at the local pub, played bingo and had a raffle, the likes we have never seen before. We all bought a prize for no more than £2. It was wrapped and put in a bag. Each person was given a ticket to draw a prize. When you drew the prize you showed everyone else what you had got. The next person drew a prize and held it up. If they did not like the prize they could swap with anyone else who had already drawn a prize. each player could compulsory swap 4 times, which meant you could have what you wanted, then lose it but had the chance to get it back, as long as someone else had it and not the one who took it off you. The game went on for almost 2 hours and we had a right laugh.
The weather was pretty good considering our location and there was a lot of sitting out in different groups. You just made your way towards a circle and it opened for you to slip in...really friendly.
Later in the evening it started raining so everyone came under our canopy. We put some music on and had more than a few drinks between us all. Retired they may be however, the whole group was very lively until midnight.
The site itself had a small shop, mobile Cafe with good cooked meals, toilets and showers, which were dated. A new toilet/shower/office block was being built on the rally field and should be open late 2013. A room will be available to rent for rallies.
