Just returned from this meet, and what a fabulous meet it was too.
Our thanks to the Hosts - John & Daphne who kept every one in line and out of mischief whilst entertaining us from the beginning to the end. They were there to greet us all with tea, coffee and biscuits and told us all the basics before the Flag at 6pm on the Sunday in the Cotton Arms.
We all met up for our Sunday Roast in the pub and John told us all what was going on and we had a quiz and games during the evening. The food was of a very good quality, having been cooked by Joe, Julie and their staff, who looked after us all the time we were there.
On Monday we went into Crewe and hit the Charity Shops, had a coffee then came home. Rain was the order of the day most days at some time or other, though it cleared to go out and to the pub for meals. Monday's evening meal was fish, chips and peas followed by a few drinks and a quiz. John was forever showing us his party tricks which really made everyone laugh.
Tuesday was a steady day, until the mid afternoon when we had a few drinks before going out to the Cotton Arms around 6.30pm. It was fancy dress in the Cotton Arms for all those that wanted to take part and a lot of our group took part. Terry and Annette, John and Sheila were joint winners. They were superbly dressed. There was a superb buffet put on with plenty of food to last right up to midnight. John entertained us for a while, then there was the nightly game of Irish Bingo and Normal Bingo before the Irish Band came on to entertain us until midnight and beyond. After a while of the band playing our host John thought the evening needed going up a note....so he got his drum and played along with the band, keeping them in tempo. Gordon and Joan gave the young ones a lesson in just how the 'older un's' dance and swept swept the floor with them. A fantastic night was had by all.
Unfortunately Christine's John was poorly with a bad chest infection and spent most of his time in the motorhome. Christine went down with a poorly stomach on New Year's Eve and had to go back to the motorhome at 9pm, leaving for home on New Year's Day in the morning. We all hope they make a full recovery quickly.
New Year's Day was understandably quiet. We all had brunch together in the pub at 12 noon, staying there until around 2.30pm. We had friends over in the caravan for a few drinks, as you do, until around 7pm, after which we had a relaxing evening watching the film Big Miracle about rescuing three whales under the ice.
All too quickly Thursday 2nd January arrived and we all had to go home. Having said goodbye to everyone we left around 1045am. We have thoroughly enjoyed the Rally and it was nice to meet old friends and make new ones. Until next time................
